Dr Ganesan’s philosophical approach to cardiology is one of holistic care, aiming to help patients make positive incremental changes in each visit to improve their cardiovascular health.
He leads a research group at the Flinders University School of Medicine, whose primary focus is on developing and applying new cardiac technologies to clinical practice, for the prevention of cardiovascular disease and the treatment of atrial fibrillation.
Dr Ganesan has received a number of awards including the Heart Rhythm Society Young Investigator Award, Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society Young Investigator Award, and the Michel Mirowski Fellowship of the Heart Rhythm Society. Dr Ganesan and his research has team have received funding from organisations including the NHMRC, NHF, HRS, and AHA.
Dr Ganesan and his team have published in leading cardiology journals including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, European Heart Journal, and Circulation Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology.
Dr Ganesan is a graduate of the University of Sydney, and holds a PhD from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr Ganesan settled in Adelaide in 2011 to complete his postdoctoral fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Adelaide and Royal Adelaide Hospital.
Dr Ganesan was appointed as a clinical academic cardiologist at Flinders University and Flinders Medical Centre in 2016. He is a Matthew Flinders Fellow and Future Leader Fellow of the National Heart Foundation of Australia.
