Yuan is a Respiratory and Sleep physician, born and raised in Adelaide. He attained his Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery from The University of Adelaide in 2013 and completed internship and basic physician training at the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network. His advanced training in Respiratory Medicine was undertaken at Flinders Medical Centre, including a Fellowship in lung cancer and pleural disease. He completed post-Fellowship training in Sleep Medicine at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Yuan has been involved with medical education at both Flinders University and The University of Adelaide. He is a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, the European Respiratory Society, the American Thoracic Society, and the Australasian Sleep Association.
His professional interests include lung cancer and pulmonary nodule evaluation, bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound, pleural disease, airways disease (including complex asthma and COPD), interstitial lung disease, and both respiratory and non-respiratory sleep disorders. He takes pride in providing person centred care and ensuring good communication with patients, as well as their wider health networks including GPs, specialists, and caregivers.
